2000 Math Seminar

  • Trenton Schulz's pictures

  • I need to work on budgeting skills and one language is not enough.

  • I would have liked to spend more time exploring London, and less time in Paris and Italy.

  • A chance to experience things beyond the Concordia bubble. A chance to finally see things for real.

  • Perhaps having a more complete idea of what's going on beforehand. Also knowing optional trips beforehand allowing a chance to choose.

  • I liked best the variety from slums of Cairo to resorts of Greece.

  • I need personal time. 30 days with a group of people gets old really fast.

  • I learned about other cultures.

  • I liked seeing the huge monuments and spending quality time w/classmates.

  • I have a weak stomach.

  • I really didn't know a lot of the stuff we were going to see, let alone anything about it. Basically though I don't think I learned a whole lot, but I improved myself. Now I'm more cultured and mature.

  • I learned I could survive in a big city and get where I wanted to go.

  • I think the experience could be improved by doing more research on places that we visited and didn't know anything about.

  • It is easy to be naive about a lot of things.

  • This seminar could be improved by better organization, more required reading, and smaller groups.

  • I gained more understanding toward world views.

  • Spend more time in each country, particularly Interlaken, London, and Athens. Also would have liked to go skiing and hang gliding.

  • I don't need half of what I use to base as a necessity.

  • I can find my way around large cities and I can deal with people out to scam me.

  • We should see less churches and more museums, more cultural, more Lutheran exposure.

  • Drink more Stella.

  • I love America. Food poisoning is not a fun experience.

  • I learned how fortunate we are to have what we have. I also learned that my actions need to change in other places, i.e., I can't smile and say hi to everyone or I will be pressured to buy everything under the sun.

  • Have more organization.

  • I learned my adaptability and openness to other cultures.

  • We should have group discussions on the trip and have more presentations on sites we visit.

  • The poolside hotels in Luxor and Aswan allowed all of us to bond. The same was true of Greece and staying on the beach. In Italy maybe have more long meals and get up in the afternoon--we did far too many touristy things. I wish while in Greece we could've gone to Olympia--where the first Olympics were and when in Italy that we could've gone to Venice.

  • I felt like we were always in a hurry and couldn't first soak it all in. More time to go to the gift shops and tourist spots.

  • There were a few more museums and sites I would have like to see.

  • By living in the US we have endless oppertunities, and options and now after experiencing different cultures I have realized how much we take things for granted.

  • Having a good bathroom and water system is nice. I learned how to be more independent and figure things out for myself.

  • We need transportation from the airport or train station to the hotel. It's easier than having people carrying luggage around.

  • I learned I like a lot of structure and I need to be more patient when I am not the one in charge.
